MEETmeTONIGHT, the initiative created to bring citizens of all ages and backgrounds closer to scientific subjects that seem increasingly inaccessible and complex than they are, for the first time also reaches Monza.
A two-day event that lasts until evening on both days, to experience science in the round and 24 hours a day, or almost.
Fascinating, sexy, within everyone's reach, the sciences, whether it be medicine, economics, physics, chemistry or mathematics, are intertwined with everyone's daily life and everyone should be interested in knowing more.
Over the years, scientific disciplines have not always shown their willingness and knowledge to make themselves accessible to the public of non-experts on the subject.
MEETmeTONIGHT it is the right formula to do it and you immediately notice it from the success of the previous editions. In that of this year there is a lot of news and a lot of fun that awaits us in many cities of Italy as well as in Monza.
The appointment is shortly, on 28 and 29 September, Friday and Saturday, day and evening, from 10 to 22.
MEETmeTONIGHT 2018 in Monza
The event comes for the first time in Monza thanks to the fact that the MEETmeTONIGHT project this year won the European call by officially entering the circuit of European Researchers' Night, an annual initiative promoted by the European Commission.
This achievement made it possible to bring the event also to other cities in Lombardy.
The MEETmeTONIGHT 2018 program for the Monza headquarters, one of the cities where part of the Bicocca University is based, provides interesting laboratories between cybersecurity, medicine and the environment. The event will take place under the arcades of the Arengario and if you arrive from other cities on your GPS navigator you can set Piazza Roma.
Let's take a look at what we can find in the Brianza capital. In the shadow of the red brick building in the center of the square there will be space to play "Virtual Video Games", thanks to virtual reality gaming stations to find out what it means to do scientific research in this area. Economics will also be discussed with "The Pie of the Economy" with the aim not to become rich immediately but to learn the main functions of money: savings, gifts, solidarity and planning.
Also in Monza, a generational challenge will also be staged with "Fragility and its causes", a game workshop held by geriatrics specialists who will test us on sight, touch and grip strength with a team game between senior and junior . There will also be space to listen to "Medicine and life stories", a laboratory linked to the doctor-patient relationship that can also be improved with art, while with "Take care of yourself" you will learn how to avoid disease risk factors starting from a proper nutrition.
The local event is organized with the patronage of Municipality of Monza and the financial support of BrianzAcque and of Sapio.

Great success also for the activities organized for schools, almost all already booked after a few days, but for schoolchildren who want to participate there is still space in the "Liver, let's build the right treatment" laboratory, a laboratory where you can build personalized medicines using balls plastic in different colors: you can book using this link.
Many workshops are dedicated to students, equally sparkling and capable of arousing no small curiosity. In fact, let's go "Discovering the chemistry and ecology of fresh waters" to see the richness and complexity of the aquatic ecosystem. But let's also take care of the teeth with the laboratory "Healthy and well-fed teeth!" ready to provide us with practical information for the prevention of dental caries. Children and parents are all invited to “Everyone in the belly! The secret life of the child ”where you travel in 9 months of“ pre-maman ”adventures.
Robots cannot be missing, among the protagonists of the 2018 edition. A Monza there will be a space dedicated to “Robotics for knowledge”. In this RobotiCSS Lab we will be able to program a humanoid robot and find out why robotics can help us understand how we work. "Guest star" will be CoderBot, the robot to play thinking fresh from a successful crowdfunding campaign. With the times that run better to deal with network security, with "Are you (cyber) sure of what you do?", A series of activities proposed by the Bicocca Security Lab aimed at becoming aware of how certain common behaviors expose to risks of which we usually don't realize.
MEETmeTONIGHT 2018: participation
Participation in the event is completely free.
MEETmeTONIGHT 2018: Playdecide
In the context of the event that we have just presented, on 28 September for the first time MEETmeTONIGHT, in the Milan office alone, proposes an out-of-the-box participatory modality: it will actively involve citizens, researchers, students, health professionals, representatives of industry and institutions in 9 simultaneous “playdecide” sessions.
It is a debate game certified by the European Commission to know, analyze together and discuss, from different points of view, these highly complex and topical topics.
